HIKES AND NATURAL PLACES IN THE METRO AREA
METROPOLITAN NATURALIST
Hart-Miller Island State Park

This park is an island in the Chesapeake Bay, accessible only by boat. I
have never been to this park, but it sounds interesting. If you have
access to a boat you might want to check it out.

Sandy Point State Park

Sandy Point is honestly not on my list of favorite places. It tends to be
very crowded in summer and is lacking in good places to hike. This
park is more geared toward the picnic, swimming, and fishing crowd
than the hiking and nature observing/wildlife watching folks like
myself. That said, there is wildlife to see here. Abundant aquatic life,
very good bird watching, and interesting salt marsh plant life can be
found here.

See the
Maryland Department of Natural Resources website for more
info.
